Possible Distributors

A lot of psychological horror or thriller films have been released through distributors as a result of vertical integration such as The Shining through Warner Bros. nonetheless many films of the genre are produced by independent companies meaning that they need to find a distributor.

There are plenty of possible American as well as British distribution companies that would possibly share our film based on previous projects.

StudioCanal UK (previously Optimum Releasing)

StudioCanal UK is a movie distribution company based in the UK and Ireland. When named Optimum Releasing from 1999-2011, the distributor was independent. However, it is now a subsidiary of StudioCanal. British, American and Irish independent films are highly popular with StudioCanal with the company releasing those movies in the UK as well as several Irish releases, making it ideal for our film project. DVD as well as theatrical releases are their specialty.

The many genres of films that the company releases are of a vast variety. Recent releases include the coming-of-age comedy Submarine and crime drama The Bling Ring.

Moreover horrors and thrillers are recurring genres associated with the company. Don't Be Afraid Of The Dark is one of the first horror/thrillers to be released since the change of the company's name that was made in the USA. The film centres around a family who relocate to a luxurious mansion. Subsequent to this, the family's shy daughter begins to see strange creatures in the house. Alternatively, Kill List is a StudioCanal UK release filmed entirely in Sheffield. The plot of this picture depicts a soldier who has returned home from the frontline. His ominous part continues to haunt him as he tries to progress in his life. Silent House is a direct example of the psychological horror subgenre film that we aim to produce. Within the movie, a woman is haunted by people who she suspects are secretly staying in her family holiday home. Hallucinations from the character add to the growing terror of the movie.

The company's website which includes details of new and old releases, general information and film news is www.studiocanal.co.uk
